How Apple made the Mafia blush.
In the last few days Apple made a huge announcement detailing how companies can sell books, music and any other service via the iPhone and iPad. And in the process made the Cosa Nostra blush.

The Internet Is Closing.
The Internet existed long before there were any web pages. For many years academics used the Internet to send emails, swap files (using FTP) and hold discussions (using NNTP). Then Tim Berners-Lee came along and mashed a few existing but disparate ideas together and created the World Wide Web (HTTP). The Internet now had its killer application and adoption rates sored. The World Wide Web is such a killer application that many people simply refer to the Web as “the Internet”.

White iPhone Delayed. I think I know why.
Apple announced today that the white version of the iPhone 4 will be delayed until later this year due to manufacturing problems. And I think I know what they mean when they say "manufacturing problems".

What is the iPad, really?
I could just tell you but where would the fun be? If an Agatha Christie novel started with "The butler killed the Lord of the Manor" you would be dealing with a "Columbo" situation and not a murder mystery. Maybe you like "Columbo" and the ceaseless repetition of "One last question ..." but I don't and I'm writing this.

The launch of the new iPhone gives some pointers to the direction of the new iPad, that I believe will be launched in the Autumn.

iPad specs - moving my goal posts.
A while ago now I wrote about why I would not be buying an iPad. My main concern was the lack of multitasking for third-party applications. Now that Apple has announced OS 4 and it includes the limited ability for third-party apps to continue running in the background I am closer to buying one, mentally at least, than I was when they were announced.

What's missing from the Apple iPad.
The title is a bit silly really because what is missing and/or present is a matter of what you intend to do with it. This really only hit home the other night as I was sat on the sofa half watching telly and half catching up on some surfing and emails using my MacBook.

Bruce and Brown London Kids haven't/won't update their website.
If you are going to have a web site then you must keep it up to date. For many people it will be the primary means of getting information on you and your company. Why annoy them with out of date information? Annoying people who are you hope to give you money is not good business sense.

iPhone Applications and your business.
The iPhone has been a game changer on many levels. As the hype has increased many companies have felt the need to hitch along on the coat tails, scared that they might somehow be left behind if they don't.Before setting off on a journey, even following the likes of Apple and the iPhone, it is always good to know something about the route ....

The death of GeoCities
To be honest I thought the free web hosting service GeoCities died a while ago but apparently not as today, after a long illness, it was finally put down by its owner Yahoo!

The Mobile Internet
With the introduction of the iPhone the mobile internet finally came alive. Smart phones capable of surfing the internet were available long before the iPhone but were limited by download speed, screen size, cost and the installed browsers giving a less than optimal experience.2009-10-25 20:59:00 UTC
Sign-up forms and free content
Many web sites offer free content in the form of videos and podcasts but before allowing the user access, some ask for an email address or a whole load of personal information. In this video I look at BankInfoSecurity.com's web site and how they get the process completely wrong.

Intelligent Finance cross browser ignorance.
The Intelligent Finance web site appears not to have been tested in the major browsers in use today. Annoying your customers is not the best policy for any company, making an important page on your web site confusing or inaccessible to around 35% of web surfers is just plain lazy.
